Love: Even When It’s Tough

I believe in a world where people love even when it is hard to. When somebody does us wrong, our immediate response is not to act with disdain or hatred, but rather love.

What does that look like, I wonder? I think it looks a whole lot like loving like Jesus did and does. What did Jesus’ love look like? Jesus gave up his life. And for whom? People who rejected, abandoned, hated, and even spat on him. But God. In his infinite wisdom allowed his Son to die a gruesome death on a cross. Even though he was faultless and without sin. He saw what was on the other side: paradise. Because He loved us so much, he did this. If Christ can die for those who hated him, maybe we can show some of the love of God to others.

It can be like a ripple effect- if one person shows the love of Christ, it can spread like wildfire. So, we can love because God first loved us. God is our great example. Blessed, I believe, are those who run towards Him. When our hands are empty, praise Him. When on the mountain top, too? It’s harder to praise down in the lowest valley, but doesn’t that make it all the more worth it?

There is no need to stay in the valley, though.

Do you know who you are? Better yet, do you know who you are or whose you could be? That we shall be called children of God. Chosen and adopted into his family. God’s masterpiece. The redeemed. Exceedingly loved. God’s friend.

I hope you are aware just how loved you are- and I hope you can spread that love like wildfire 🙂
